BJP observed “Black Day” in Siliguri

Siliguri, 25th June: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed a solemn “Black Day” on Sunday in Siliguri. The event was held to protest against the Congress regime in India that reigned from 25 June 1975 to 21 March 1977, during which the Congress government, led by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, imposed a National Emergency in the country.

Reportedly, the black day was commemorated through a program at Hashmi Chowk in Siliguri, organized by the Siliguri Organizational District Committee of the BJP. Several prominent figures, including Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman, the Leader of the Opposition in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), Amit Jain, and other party members, were present at the event.

During the program, MLA Anandamoy Barman expressed that the state is currently facing a situation akin to an emergency. He further emphasized that the democratic rights of the people have been severely restricted in the state. It is in light of these circumstances that the BJP organized the black day program.
