Siliguri, 21st July: A distressing incident of attempted rape against a minor girl has been brought to light in Siliguri’s Subhash Pally area. The alleged perpetrator has been identified as Madhusudan Mani (76), the elderly owner of a grocery store where the incident took place.
According to reports, on Thursday, the minor girl visited the grocery store in Subhash Pally to purchase items. Allegedly, Madhusudan Mani took advantage of the situation and engaged in an obscene act with her under the guise of providing the goods. Later, he attempted to forcibly rape her. Fortunately, the minor managed to escape and hurried back home to inform her family about the harrowing encounter. Following this, the family filed a written complaint at the Siliguri Women’s Police Station last night.
Based on the complaint, the cops promptly arrested the accused elderly man. He was presented before the Siliguri court today, and a case has been registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
