Siliguri, 30th March: In a horrifying incident, a 70-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her tenant. Khalpara Out Post Police arrested the accused who has been identified as Bishnu Shah. He lives with his wife and their children.
As per the report, the elderly woman was home alone on Sunday. Seizing the opportunity to commit the horrible crime, Bishnu Shah crept into her house late at night and raped her. Seeing the condition of the elderly woman deteriorating after the incident, the family members admitted her to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. The victim is fighting for her life in the said hospital.
Apparently, the accused attempted to flee to Bihar after the matter came to light. However, the Khalpara police conducted a campaign based on a tip-off and arrested the accused on time. He was produced before the Siliguri court today.
