Siliguri, 06th April: Sensation prevailed after the NJP police recovered 400 liters of raw spirit after running a campaign near Fulbari toll plaza ahead of smuggling. Along with this, they have arrested two more in the incident. The accused have been identified as Ranjit Thapa and Peijer Hussain.
Reportedly, on Wednesday night, the police received a tip-off that 400 litres of raw spirit in two drums were being smuggled to Birpara from Ghoshpukur in a pickup van. After getting this information, the undercover police of the NJP police station was disguised at the Fulbari toll gate. As soon as the pickup van reached there, the police intercepted the pickup van. After this, 400 litres of raw spirit were recovered from the van during the search.
The police arrested two accused on the charges of smuggling raw spirit. is being told. It is to be noted that the raw spirit is used in making spurious indigenous and foreign liquor. Today the accused were produced in the Jalpaiguri court. The police are probing the entire incident.
