2000 e-rickshaws (toto) to ply on the streets of Jalpaiguri from June 1

Jalpaiguri, 27th May: During a meeting held at the Kotwali police station along with the Toto unions, it has been decided that two thousand e-rickshaws (toto), per day, will be allowed to ply on the streets of Jalpaiguri from June 1. In this regard, the police administration will issue temporary identity cards to the Toto drivers. However, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, there will be no entry for totos in specific parts of the city.


Kotwali police station IC Biswas Roy Sarkar, DSP Traffic Moloy Das, Municipality administrative board member Sandip Mahato, Saikat Chatterjee, and the transportation department officials were present during the meeting.

DSP Traffic Moloy Das stated that Jalpaiguri’s s Beguntari, Dinbazar, and Kamarpara More will be considered as ‘No entry’ zones for totos. Apart from this, administrative board member Sandip Mahato stated that they have already started the process of providing TIN numbers to the Toto drivers.
