Siliguri, 05th August: The police have arrested two people on the charges of trafficking a minor girl from Assam in Siliguri’s red-light area. Two people, including a woman, were arrested after thorough investigation.
According to police sources, Safiullah, a resident of Assam Goalpara, made false promises of love to the victim girl and brought her to Siliguri. Following this, he allegedly sold her in the red light area in exchange for a large sum of money.
Reportedly, the Assam police contacted Khalpara outpost police during the investigation and arrested the accused Safiullah yesterday. The police also got hold of another woman and after questioning them, the police successfully rescued the minor.
Meanwhile, the arrested accused will be produced before the Siliguri court today and will be taken to Assam on transit remand.
