Rajganj, 12th June: The 100 Days Work Scheme has resumed in Rajganj after remaining suspended for nearly four years, bringing relief and happiness among rural workers who have regained an opportunity for employment.
The official launch of the 100 days’ work programme in Jalpaiguri district began from the Kukurjan Gram Panchayat area under Rajganj block. The project started with 22 rural workers participating on the first day.
The resumption of the scheme comes after the new state government had promised to restart the project soon after coming to power. Within around a month of forming the government, the initiative has been implemented, raising hopes among many rural labourers.
Rajganj BDO Sourabh Kanti Mandal formally inaugurated the work by cutting a ribbon and breaking a coconut. Officials from the district and block administration, along with Kukurjan Gram Panchayat Pradhan Gopal Poddar and other local representatives, were present during the programme.
According to administration sources, work under the scheme will gradually begin in other areas of the block as well. After a long wait, the return of employment opportunities has brought smiles to the faces of rural workers.
