10 NBSTC buses carrying 300 workers left for South 24 Pargana from Siliguri

Siliguri, 09th May: Acting on the state government’s directives, 10 buses carrying 300 migrant workers left for South 24 Pargana from Siliguri, today. The workers had been stranded in Siliguri ever since the COVID-19 lockdown was imposed across the nation.

With no source of income and very little money, the workers sought help from the state government to return to their native town. Based on their appeal, the Siliguri Sub Divisional Officer was directed to help the workers.

According to the information, 10 NBSTC buses from Tenzing Norgay Central Bus Terminus, adjacent to Siliguri Junction, left for South 24 Pargana carrying migrant workers and other people, this evening. Meanwhile, the people were quite happy with the initiative and appreciated the state government for it.

During this period, Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress President Ranjan Sarkar along with social activist Raju Sarin provided cooked meals to the workers.
