Siliguri, 20th November: A youth was arrested in Bagdogra on Tuesday evening with a firearm and live ammunition. The arrest took place at the Junglee Baba More area in Bagdogra. The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Kamirul, a resident of Joydeb Bhita in Fulbari.
According to sources, Kamirul was heading towards Bagdogra from Bihar via the Naxalbari road. Acting on a tip-off, the Bagdogra police set up an operation near Junglee Baba More. As the youth arrived in the area, the police stopped his motorcycle and conducted a search.
During the search, the police recovered a locally made pistol and live ammunition from his possession. After the seizure, Kamirul was arrested and brought before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
