Rajganj, 15th July: The Belakoba Forest Range under the Baikunthapur Forest Division on Wednesday organised a series of programmes, including an awareness rally, sit-and-draw competition, quiz contest and tree plantation drive, as part of the ongoing ‘Aranya Saptaha 2026’ celebrations at Mahendra Nath High School in Rajganj.
The week-long observance, being held across West Bengal from July 14 to July 20, aims to promote awareness about forest conservation, environmental protection and the importance of tree plantation among students and the general public.
The programme began with an awareness rally led by students of Mahendra Nath High School. The rally started from the school premises, passed through Rajganj Post Office More and concluded back at the school.
Following the rally, students from various schools in Rajganj participated in sit-and-draw and quiz competitions. A tree plantation drive was also carried out on the school campus, where saplings of different species were planted.
Among those present were Amitava Das, Inspector-in-Charge of Rajganj Police Station; Ranger of Belakoba Range; Pukar Tamang, Ranger of Ambari Range; other officials and staff of the Forest Department; and members of the school’s teaching faculty.
