Siliguri, 13th August: The Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard conducted an awareness drive at several important locations in Siliguri on Thursday to discourage indiscriminate parking and address the city’s traffic congestion problem.
During the drive, no fines were imposed on violators. Instead, traffic personnel used loudspeakers to make drivers aware of the rules and urged them to avoid parking vehicles in unauthorised areas.
According to the Traffic Department, improper parking is one of the major reasons for recurring traffic congestion on several roads across the city. The awareness drive was conducted to reduce inconvenience for commuters and ensure smoother traffic movement.
The authorities said similar awareness drives will continue in the coming days.
