Siliguri, 11th August: A youth has been arrested for having an affair and luring a girl with promises of marriage. The arrested youth name is Nayan Pramanik (30) of Cooch Behar.
According to the information, the victim is also a resident of Cooch Behar and was studying in a college in Siliguri. She met Nayan Pramanik during this time and the duo had a love affair. Allegedly, the accused developed a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage. However, after a while, Nayan Pramanik refused to marry the girl and eventually broke all ties with her.
Following this, a case of rape was registered against Nayan Pramanik on behalf of the girl’s family at the NJP police station. On the basis of the registered case, the accused youth was arrested from the Ashighar area on Tuesday night. He was produced in Jalpaiguri court today.
