Youth arrested after 21 days for attacking man with knife in Siliguri

Siliguri, 25th February: The officials of the Khalpara Outpost have successfully arrested the accused offender in the knife attack in Siliguri after 21 days. The arrested accused has been identified as Akash Singh alias Suraj (24), a resident of Santoshi Nagar in SMC’s Ward No. 05.


According to reports, on February 4, the accused Akash Singh had allegedly stabbed Bijay Sahni with a knife in a fit of rage. As a result, Bijay Sahni had suffered significant injuries. Following this, on February 5, the matter was reported to the Khalpara Outpost. Subsequently, the officials initiated a hunt for the accused Akash and successfully apprehended him on Saturday night from the banks of the Mahananda River.

On Sunday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court for legal proceedings. Following the trial, the accused has been directed to be kept on a 3-day police remand as per court orders. At present, the entire incident is under further police investigation.
