Wood logs worth lakhs seized before smuggling by Pana Range personnel

Alipurduar, 25th July: The forest department officials successfully seized sal and teak wood that were about to be smuggled from Gangutia Tea Garden in the Kalchini block. Acting on a tip-off, the Pana Range and Pana mobile range of the forest department launched the operation on Tuesday afternoon in the said area. 


During the operation, they managed to recover 13 logs of sal tree and 2 logs of teak tree. The total volume of wood seized was approximately 80 cubic feet (CFT). The market value of the confiscated wood is estimated to be around Rs 3 lakhs.
