Rajganj 20th January: The women of Ambari staged a roadblock and protested demanding the closure of a licensed liquor shop.
As per reports, a departmental store was opened in the Chakiabhita area of Ambari about 7 months ago and the sale of foreign liquor began about a month ago. On Saturday, the women demonstrated in front of the licensed liquor shop for about two hours. In addition, the protestors also blocked the road.
In this regard, the women alleged that the environment of the area was at stake due to the liquor shop which prompted them to approach the administration demanding its closure. However, no action was initiated. Further, they stated that upon failure to address their demands, they would resort to a massive movement.
Upon receiving the news, the cops of the Ambari Outpost arrived at the spot. Later, the protesting women eased the road blockade after being assured by the police.
