Siliguri, 20th March: Hearing the news of her husband’s second marriage, the wife sat on a dharna outside her in-laws’ house. She stated that until she does not get a place at her in-law’s house, she will continue to sit on dharna. The shocking incident has come to the fore from Samar Nagar DJ More area of Siliguri.
Reportedly, in the year 2017, Rintu Das, was married to Shukla Roy, a resident of Ward No. 38. After this, Rintu kept Shukla in a rented house in different areas of the said ward for the last six years. Everything was going well as Rintu divided his time between his wife and family. He stayed with his wife for three to four days a week, the rest of the days he stayed with his family. Apparently, Rintu did not tell his family about his marriage to Shukla. Last January, Rintu’s family members fixed his marriage with a girl from Ashighar. After this, preparations for marriage commenced in Rintu’s house. Meanwhile, through social media, Rintu’s first wife came to about her husband’s marriage. Since then, she tried to contact him several times, however, failed to speak to him. After this, Shukla lodged a written complaint in this regard at Pradhan Nagar police station. Along with this, she told the councillor of Ward No. 38, Dulal Dutta, about the incident.
The members of Dabgram-01 Gram Panchayat were informed by Dulal Dutta about the matter. After which Shukla Das sat on a dharna in front of the house of her husband Rintu Das on Sunday evening. It is to be noted, that in the year 2013, Shukla Roy got divorced from her first husband. After this, she met Rintu in Bidhan Market, and shortly after series of meetings turned into love in no time. Shukla Roy alleges that she has a child from her first marriage. Even after knowing all this, Rintu Das married Shukla in the year 2017 at her sister’s house. Shukla further claimed that after living together for 6 years now Rintu is going to get married for the second time. It is being told that Rintu and all his family members have absconded.
On the other hand, Shukla Roy warned to continue the dharna until she gets rightfully recognized as Rintu’s wife at her in-law’s house.
