Woman killed in elephant attack in Rajganj

Rajganj, 07th May: A woman was killed in an elephant attack. The deceased has been identified as Bulbuli Barman (35).


As per the report, six women from Farabari Adarshapally were confronted by a wild elephant while they were collecting woods from the local Baikunthapur forest. Five women managed to flee from the forest, however leaving Bulbuli Barman behind.

Upon receiving the news, the forest workers of Farabari Beat Office went into the forest in search of the said woman and returned after a while. Following this, at around 10 o’clock in the night, the local people searched the forest and saw the body of a woman covered with blood. The body of the Bulbuli was recovered by the forest department, on Friday.


The police of the Ambari outpost reached the spot and has sent the body to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. The police has started an investigation regarding the incident.
