Rajganj, 05th August: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in the Gokulvita railway line area near Ambari, under the Binnaguri Gram Panchayat of Rajganj block, when a woman lost her life after being hit by a train on Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Bilati Roy, aged 55.
According to local accounts, the woman was dependent on begging to support her family. At around 2 in the afternoon, on Saturday, while she was begging on her way home, a cargo train heading towards New Jalpaiguri (NJP) struck her while she was crossing the railway tracks.
Upon receiving the news, the authorities of the Ambari Outpost and railway police officials promptly reached the accident site. Tragically, the woman could not survive her injuries, and her body was recovered. It was later transferred to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
