Woman hunting for work allegedly steals bike in Hakimpara, 2 more detained

Siliguri, 02nd February: It was an unusual morning for the residents of the city’s Ward No. 16 Hakimpara area when a woman, spotted wandering in the area looking for work was later detained for allegedly trying to steal away a motorbike.


According to sources, the woman was seen roaming in the area since this morning. She was going door to door looking for work as domestic help. Allegedly, a resident of the area spotted the woman standing beside a building suspiciously. After some time, she brought a van and a rickshaw and the three tried to place the bike in the van. Acting promptly, the resident immediately informed the bike owner about the situation. 

The bike owner intercepted the woman and her alleged accomplices. Later, the local people tied the woman to an electric pole and informed the police about the incident. The van driver and the rickshaw driver were also apprehended by the residents. As soon as the news of the incident was received, the police of Panitanki Out Post reached the area and took the three including the woman into custody for questioning. On the other hand, the van driver claimed to be innocent and that the woman told him that it was her bike and wanted to sell it.
