Siliguri, 24th June: Police have arrested a woman in connection with the suspicious death of her husband in the Pradhan Nagar police station area of Siliguri.
The incident pertains to the death of Krishnendu Sarkar, also known as Guddu, whose body was found hanging inside his residence in the Dhaknikata area on 20th June.
While the case initially appeared to be a case of suicide, the deceased’s mother raised questions over the circumstances surrounding her son’s death and lodged a written complaint against her daughter-in-law at the police station.
According to the complaint, the mother alleged that there were injury marks on her son’s body and claimed that his death was not a normal case of suicide.
Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested the deceased’s wife, identified as Soma Sarkar (31), on suspicion of involvement in the case. The accused was produced before the court on Wednesday.
Police are currently investigating whether the death was a case of suicide or whether there was any conspiracy behind it. The investigation is ongoing.
