Winter knocks in North Bengal, Lepchakha village covered with white sheet of hailstone 

Alipurduar, 27th December: With the approach of the ending days this year, the bone-chilling winter has started knocking on North Bengal region. Reportedly, on Monday night, a small hamlet named Lepchakha located on the hilltop of Buxa Tiger Reserve welcomed winter with a heavy hailstorm. 


Reportedly, after Monday afternoon, the temperature started to drop in Buxa’s Lepchakha area of the Alipurduar district. After this, the place witnessed a hailstorm on Monday night around 11 pm. Although the hailstorm was brief, the entire village was covered with a white sheet of hailstones. Even on Tuesday morning, a hailstone sheet of ice was seen at several places in Lepchakha village.
