Alipurduar, 27th August: Two wild elephants claimed the life of 60-year-old Gyan Bala Barman, a resident of the North Chekamari area in Alipurduar Madarihat block.
The tragic incident took place when two wild elephants broke the fence of the already crumbling house of the elderly woman, around 3.30 am on Thursday.
Upon receiving the news, the forest workers reached the spot. However, the elephants returned to the forests before their arrival.
