Kalchini, 25th October: In a tragic incident, a wild elephant was accidentally electrocuted after coming in contact with high-voltage electrical wires in the Paschim Mendabari area of Kalchini. On Wednesday morning, the locals spotted the deceased body of the elephant and immediately reported it to the forest department.
Locals suspected that the elephant’s trunk must have come in contact with the downed electrical wire along the betel nut garden. Upon being informed, the Jaldapara Forest personnel promptly arrived at the scene and retrieved the carcass.
