West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Darjeeling MP Raju Bista condole death of Jaswant Singh

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Sunday mourned the demise of former Union Minister Jaswant Singh and extended her condolences to his family and admirers.


“Saddened at the passing away of former Defence Minister and one of India’s longest-serving parliamentarians, Jaswant Singh Ji. My condolences to his family and his many admirers,” Banerjee tweeted.

Likewise, current MP of Darjeeling Raju Bista took to Twitter to express deep condolences to the departed soul.

“Shri Jaswant Singh ji, a scholar-leader, former Foreign & Defense Minister is no more. He represented our Darjeeling Constituency as the Member of Parliament from 2009-2014. He was a stalwart and his demise is a huge loss to our nation. My sincere condolence to the family,” Bista tweeted.

The former Darjeeling MP and former Union Minister Jaswant Singh, who had been ill for a long time, passed away on Sunday at the age of 82 years. Jaswant Singh is one of the few leaders who got the opportunity to become India’s Defense Minister, Finance Minister and Foreign Minister in the government headed by late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
