Siliguri, 31st January: Siliguri’s Ward No. 05 drain problem is not new to the area as it has persisted for a long time. During light rains, almost knee-deep water accumulates from Santoshi Nagar More of Burdwan Road to Ganga Nagar area. Because of this, the Ward Councilor has said to collect the donation and construct a guard wall if needed.
Ward Councilor Anita Mahato while addressing the reporters at Santoshi Nagar More on Tuesday said that the guard wall of the drain at Santoshi Nagar More is broken. Due to this, the whole area gets waterlogged when it rains. She had raised the matter of the construction of a guard wall in the board meeting of the corporation but was not resolved.
She further alleged that no importance is being given to the opposition in the corporation and warned that if the problem of the ward is not resolved in the coming days, then the guard wall will be constructed by collecting donations.
