Uttarbanga Safai Karmachari Samiti warn to discontinue services if demands not met

Siliguri, 08th February: During a press conference, Kiran Rauth, President of Uttarbanga Safai Karmachari Samiti, stated that if the demands of the cleaning staff are not met soon, services will be discontinued from February 11.


The organization had earlier submitted a 9-point memorandum to Siliguri Municipal Corporation in support of various demands including permanent jobs for cleaning staff. However, even after 22 days, no response was received from SMC.

A protest rally is likely to be organized on February 10 on behalf of the association. The rally will commence from Siliguri Baghajatin Park. All the cleaning staff of SMC will be present at the protest rally, said Kiran Rauth, president of the association. Rauth further said that if their demands are not met, cleanliness work of the city will discontinue from February 11. Continuous demonstrations will be staged until their demands are met.
