Siliguri, 21st March: In a joint operation of the Special Operation Group (SOG) and the police of Pradhan Nagar police station, arrested two youths with firearms. The arrested youths have been identified as Samiul Shaikh (21), and MD Samirul Islam (19), both residents of Kaliachak.
Reportedly, both Samiul Sheikh and Samirul Islam were spotted roaming in the Junction area in an auto, carrying firearms on Monday. On receiving the tip-off regarding it, the SOG caught both the accused along with the police of Pradhan Nagar police station. Upon searching both youths, a firearm, and two live cartridges were recovered. After this, both were arrested for illegally possessing firearms.
Today both were produced in Siliguri court. Reportedly, by taking both of them on police remand from the court, the police will further investigate their motives for reaching Siliguri with firearms from Kaliachak.
