Siliguri, 29th December: Horrific accident claimed the lives of two youths in the Tinbatti area of Siliguri at around 10 pm on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Shubhankar Roy (22) and Amit Sarkar (19). At the same time, the injured youth has been identified as Shubham Roy (19). All three are said to be residents of the Dhantala area west of Fulbari.
Mourning has engulfed the area since the incident. It has been told that the three youths were heading towards Siliguri from Asian Highway 2 on a bike last night. The said bike collided with a truck in the Tinbatti area due to which the three youths riding the bike fell on the road. After the incident, NJP police reached the spot and rescued the injured, and took them to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared Shubhankar brought dead. Whereas, while being taken to a private hospital, Amit died on the way. However, on the other hand, Shubham is undergoing treatment at North Bengal Medical College and is said to be in critical condition.
Today, the head of Fulbari No. 2 Gram Panchayat Dilip Roy met the said family and assured them to stand with them. Dilip Rai expressed his deep sympathy for the bereaved families and also expressed his anguish over the tragic incident. Stating this he talked about how all three youths were not wearing helmets, which could help them avert such tragic death.
