Siliguri, 10th August: The Mahananda Bachao Committee in Siliguri has taken a humanitarian initiative to support people affected by the devastating floods in Assam.
The organisation has collected footwear, clothing, notebooks, pens, blankets and other essential items, including around 30 quintals of flattened rice and puffed rice. The relief materials will be distributed among flood victims through a voluntary organisation.
Siliguri MLA and Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh reviewed the relief collection initiative and spoke with the committee members. He praised their efforts and assured that the administration would provide all possible assistance required to support the flood-affected people.
The committee said such humanitarian initiatives will continue in the future and appealed to people from different sections of society to extend their support.
