Naxalbari, 01st July: Two youths lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Asian Highway at Bengai Jote in Naxalbari during the early hours of morning.
The deceased have been identified as Parimal Mallick and Shiba Kole, both residents of Ketugabur Jote in Hatighisa.
According to reports, the two were returning home from the Panitanki side when they allegedly lost control of their motorcycle due to excessive speed. The motorcycle collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction, following which both riders were crushed under the truck’s wheels. They succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
After receiving information about the accident, personnel from Naxalbari Police Station and the fire department rushed to the spot. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the locality.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
