Siliguri, 13th June: Two people died in a road accident near Salugara AIR Radio Centre under Bhakti Nagar police station area of Siliguri late Sunday night. The deceased have been identified as Manav Roy (26) and Ranjit Roy (47). Both were residents of Jalpaiguri.
According to the information, a car coming towards Check Post from Salugara lost control near the said area and rammed into the two motorcycle-borne men. Manav Roy and Ranjit Roy sustained serious injuries in the incident. On receiving the news, the police of Bhakti Nagar Police Station and Traffic Guard of Siliguri Metropolitan Police reached the spot and rescued the injured. They were taken to Siliguri District Hospital, where the doctors declared one of them dead and the condition of the other was said to be critical. Early Monday morning, he also died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The bodies were sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem this morning. Police informed the families of both of the deceased and seized both the crashed vehicles. Reportedly, the driver of the said car is absconding since the incident.
