Two arrested with 35 kilos of cannabis in Siliguri’s Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus 

Siliguri, 16th October: Siliguri have been witnessing a surge in drugs and narcotics during the puja season. In regard to this, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police have been actively launching campaigns to bust the peddlers and drug trades.


 

During one such campaign on Saturday night, the Pradhan Nagar Police Station of Siliguri Metropolitan Police achieved success in apprehending two on charges of drug peddling. Police arrested the duo from Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand with a huge quantity of cannabis. The accused have been identified as Raju Singh and Sonu alias Pradeep Singh, residents of Uttar Pradesh.


 

 

According to police sources, Raju and Sonu were waiting for the bus near the Tenzing Norgay bus stand with the cannabis, last night. On receiving a tip-off the police reached the spot and nabbed both of them. While searching 35 kg of cannabis was recovered from two bags in their possession. The market value of the seized drug has been estimated at lakhs of rupees. 

 

Taking legal action in the presence of the Deputy Magistrate, Pradhan Nagar police station arrested Sonu Singh and Raju Singh by registering a case under the NDPS Act. The accused will be produced in the Siliguri court today.
