Bagdogra, 06th January: Bagdogra police have arrested two men in connection with the alleged beating and death of a man in Putimari, Bagdogra. The arrested have been identified as Bittu Sahani and Nitesh Kumar.
According to reports, on 31st December, during a picnic in Putimari, a dispute broke out between several youths and the deceased, identified as Nikhil Lohar. The argument allegedly escalated into a brutal assault, resulting in Nikhil Lohar sustaining severe injuries, including a broken rib, which led to his death.
Following the incident, the deceased’s wife, Astami Lohar, filed written complaints against several individuals at Bagdogra Police Station. The accused went into hiding, prompting police to register a murder case and begin an investigation.
On Monday night, police traced and arrested Bittu Sahani and Nitesh Kumar from the Tarbanda area of Bagdogra. The two accused were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Tuesday. Police continue to search for other individuals involved in the incident.
