Turturi Tea Garden workers held a gate meeting in support of various demands

Alipurduar, 01st March: The tea garden workers, on Monday, held a gate meeting at the Turturi Tea Garden under the Alipurduar district in support of various demands including an increase in daily wages for tea workers, repair of the houses of labourers, and provident fund.

The workers held a gate meeting in front of the garden gate for around two hours. Since last January, the state government has increased the daily wage of tea workers by Rs 26. Although the increased daily wage has been introduced in many tea gardens, the workers of the said tea garden are deprived of it. Hence, they held a gate meeting.

On the other hand, the workers of the Makrapara Tea Garden in the Alipurduar district complained of being deprived of the increased daily wage. Starting today, the workers of the said tea garden started a campaign in this regard. The workers also staged a protest in front of the garden’s factory gate.
