Truck missing from Siliguri recovered in Jharkhand, driver arrested

Siliguri, 15th July: A truck that had gone missing en route from Siliguri to Chhattisgarh has been successfully located by the Matigara police station in Jharkhand. The truck, which was loaded with fertilizers, was found abandoned, and the truck driver has been apprehended for stealing the vehicle. The arrested driver has been identified as Manoj Mahto, a resident of Jharkhand.


According to reports, Manoj had departed for Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on June 21 with a load of fertilizers from a factory in Matigara. However, the truck mysteriously disappeared during the journey. Despite extensive efforts to locate the missing truck, the owner was unable to find any leads. Subsequently, on July 3, the truck owner lodged a formal complaint of theft with the Matigara police station.

The Matigara police station initiated an investigation into the matter following the complaint. By tracing the mobile location of the truck driver, they were able to track him down to Jharkhand. On July 12, the missing truck was recovered from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, and the driver was apprehended. Following the arrest, the driver was presented before the local court and subsequently brought back to Siliguri on transit remand last night. Today, the accused truck driver appeared in court in Siliguri for further legal proceedings.
