Trinamool Congress staged a ‘Dharna’ in Islampur protesting against NRC, CAA, and NPR

Islampur, 01st February: Trinamool Congress staged a ‘Dharna’ in Islampur and Goalpokhar protesting against the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR).
Goalpokhar-I Block Trinamool Congress President Ghulam Rasool stated that the activists and supporters of TMC protested in the presence of the State Government’s Minister of State for Panchayats and Gramonnayan Gulam Rabbani.


Around 20,000 people joined the protest which lasted for three and a half hours. Meanwhile, a ‘Dharna’ was also staged at Ramganj in Islampur. The protest was staged under the leadership of Kanhaiyalal Agarwal, the Trinamool Congress President and Chairman of Islampur Municipality. The Islampur Block Trinamool Congress President Zakir Hussain stated that the protest would continue for a week.
