Siliguri, 01st July: On the occasion of the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a tribute programme was organised at Siliguri’s Bidhan Market by the Business Committee, where floral tributes were offered to his statue. On this day, National Doctors’ Day is observed.
Members of the Bidhan Market Byabaasayee Samiti were present at the programme. Floral wreaths were offered at the statue as a mark of respect.
Abhijit Ghosh, executive member of the committee, said that floral tributes were paid to Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy’s statue and that it is the responsibility of the traders’ community to express gratitude, as Bidhan Market was developed through his efforts.
He also mentioned that the market faces issues, stating that even light rainfall leads to waterlogging, causing inconvenience to traders and customers.
