Siliguri, 23rd July: Amid increasing road accidents on Siliguri’s Eastern Bypass, Ashighar Traffic Guard conducted a special traffic enforcement drive at Dhakeshwari More on Thursday to promote road safety awareness.
The Eastern Bypass has witnessed several accidents in recent times, claiming many lives. Despite this, traffic officials noted that many riders continue to violate safety norms, including riding without helmets.
During Thursday’s drive, several bike riders were fined for violating traffic rules. Police also raised concerns that many riders are using pocket roads along the Eastern Bypass to avoid traffic checks.
Traffic officials urged people to wear helmets not to avoid police action, but for their own safety and the protection of their families.
