Tractor rally staged in Siliguri demanding repeal of the farm bill

Siliguri, 26th January: On the 72nd Republic Day, a tractor rally was taken out in Siliguri demanding the repeal of the centre’s farm bill.


The said tractor rally was taken out today on behalf of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). The rally commenced from Mallaguri and toured Junction, Airview More, Court More and concluded back at Mallaguri. The supporters joined the rally with around 30 tractors. The rally was attended by the workers of Kharibari, Naxalbari, Phansidewa, and Matigara tea garden areas.

INTUC leader Alok Chakraborty said that the farmers’ organization has taken out a tractor rally in Delhi. Hence, a similar initiative has been taken in Siliguri. He warned of staging continuous demonstrations if the central government does not repeal the farm bill.
