Toy Train Joy Ride in Darjeeling likely to resume soon

Siliguri, 23rd November: Preparations to resume toy train services have already commenced in the Darjeeling Hills. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) has already sent a proposal to the Darjeeling DM in this regard. The DM has forwarded the proposal to the state transport department. Once the permission is granted, toy train services will likely resume.


It is to be noted that Sanjeev Roy, General Manager of the North Eastern Frontier Railway, inspected DHR on November 9. Following which, the GM sent a proposal to the Darjeeling DM to resume toy train service soon.

Darjeeling DM Shashank Sethi said that the proposal received by DHR has already been sent to the state government’s transport department.


It has been learned that at present, Toy trains will run only for Joy Rides. Considering the social distancing protocol, 25-30 tourists will be allowed to take joy ride at a time.
