To approach the Railways to confer Siliguri Town station as a heritage site: Mayor Goutam Deb

Siliguri, 13th April: Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Goutam Deb has intended to decorate Siliguri Town Station as a heritage site along with various development works in Ward No. 28 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.


On Wednesday, the Mayor graced the inauguration ceremony of the councillor’s office in Ward No. 28. Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Chairman Pratul Chakraborty, Ward Councilor Sampreeta Das, Madan Bhattacharya, and others were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the media, Mayor Goutam Deb said that the SMC has envisioned numerous plans for the ward. Apart from solving the problem of drinking water, the board’s planning to build playgrounds, children’s parks and drains. 


“A proposal will be presented to the Railways after talking to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in regards to conferring Siliguri Town station as a heritage site,” Deb maintained. Furthermore, the Mayor added that the statues of B. R. Ambedkar and Deshbandhu Chittaranjan would also be installed in Ward No. 28.
