TMC stages dharna in Siliguri against 24-hour campaigning ban on Mamata Banerjee

Siliguri, 13th April: The Election Commission imposed a 24-hour ban on Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for violating the Model Code of Conduct, on Monday.


In view of the ban, the Trinamool Congress leaders including minister Goutam Deb, party candidate Omprakash Mishra, minister Aroop Biswas and Darjeeling district Trinamool president Ranjan Sarkar staged a dharna near the Gandhi statue in Siliguri today.

Aroop Biswas said, “Election Commission only notices Mamata Banerjee. A ban has also been imposed on BJP leader Rahul Sinha to balance the situation.” He demanded that PM Narendra Modi should also be banned from campaigning.
