Naxalbari, 30th June: The Pradhan of Maniram Gram Panchayat under Naxalbari block, Gautam Ghosh of the Trinamool Congress, has resigned from his post with around one year of his tenure remaining.
The resignation comes amid a series of resignations from gram panchayats following the change in government in the state.
In the 2022 Panchayat elections, the Trinamool Congress won 12 seats, the BJP secured 5 seats, and an independent candidate won 1 seat in the 18-member Maniram Gram Panchayat. With a majority, the Trinamool Congress formed the board, and Gautam Ghosh was elected as the Pradhan.
However, with around one year left in his tenure, Gautam Ghosh stepped down from the post.
Speaking on the matter, Gautam Ghosh said that he had resigned due to health issues and family reasons.
