TMC-CPI (M) clash, several injured in Tufanganj, Cooch Behar

Cooch Behar, 5th June: A scuffle between the party workers of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Communist Party of India (CPI)(M), led to the prevalence of tense atmosphere in Tufanganj’s Dakshin Balabhut area under Balabhut Gram Panchayat on Sunday night. Following the incident, several individuals, allegedly, party workers, were injured.


According to reports, CPI(M) workers held a meeting in the said area. Subsequently, the local TMC leaders and workers held a rally in the area and allegedly vandalized the residences of CPI (M) workers. Due to this, a clash broke out between the two parties, and six individuals were injured. After the clash, the injured were rushed to Tufanganj Divisional Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, upon receiving the news, the Tufanganj Police reached the spot and took several workers and supporters of the two parties into custody.


Speaking in this regard, TMC Regional President of Balabhut Gram Panchayat, Altaf Bepari accused the opposition and stated that three workers of the party were severely injured.
