Three arrested with brown sugar in Siliguri

Siliguri, 28th October: Based on a tip-off, the Siliguri police launched anti-drugs operations at Jalpai More on October 25. During the camp, three men were arrested with brown sugar worth lakhs in their possession. The accused have been identified as Nur Alam, Mohammad Sayem, and Khairul Nesa.


Reportedly, the drug was being smuggled into Siliguri from Malda. Upon searching the vehicle, a bag weighing around 2 kilos was recovered. After looking into the bag, the police found a kilo of brown sugar hidden inside a sack of garlic.

Meanwhile, the Siliguri Police Commissionerate contacted the Malda District police to launch investigations regarding the smuggling ring.


It is to be noted that in the last few months, a large quantity of brown sugar has been recovered in different police station areas in Siliguri. During a press conference at the Siliguri Police station, DCP Joy Tudu stated that the accused individuals have been taken into police custody. An investigation has been started into the whole incident.
