Thieves steal 9 mobile phones by breaking into construction workers’ accommodation in Fulbari

Fulbari, 06th June: A theft at a construction site sparked concern in the Jorepakri area under Fulbari-II Gram Panchayat after miscreants allegedly broke into a workers’ accommodation and stole nine mobile phones during the night.

According to sources, around 20 to 22 workers from different areas had been engaged in the construction of a building in Jorepakri. The workers were staying together in a temporary accommodation beside the construction site.

After finishing work on Friday night, all the workers went to sleep. Taking advantage of the situation, the thieves allegedly entered the accommodation by creating an opening beneath the tin-sheet structure and made away with several mobile phones.

Workers Deepak Oraon and Biswajit Barman said they became suspicious late at night that something was amiss. While searching for their phones, they discovered that several devices were missing. On inspecting the structure, they noticed the opening through which the miscreants had allegedly gained entry. Further checks revealed that a total of nine mobile phones had been stolen.

Following the incident, police from New Jalpaiguri Police Station reached the spot and launched an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify those involved in the theft.
