Siliguri, 28th June: In an unusual incident of theft that surfaced from the Gora More region under the jurisdiction of the NJP police, unidentified thieves broke into an empty house and made away with cash and gold worth lakhs of rupees.
According to reports, the incident took place while the homeowner, Dhanesh Roy, with his family was away for a week in Assam. Taking advantage of the vacant property the miscreants forcefully entered and stole valuables worth a lot of money.
The theft came to light when the owner returned home and discovered that the door lock of the house was broken and everything inside the house was a scattered mess. Further, about lakhs of rupees including gold ornaments kept in the house were missing. Meanwhile, the police arrived at the scene immediately after the information surfaced at the NJP police station. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
