Cooch Behar, 02nd February: Sensation prevailed at Mekhliganj Sub-Divisional Hospital over the death of a newborn due to alleged medical negligence.
As per the report, Chiranjit Barman, a resident of Uchalpukuri area of Mekhliganj block, admitted his pregnant wife Madhabi Barman to Mekhliganj sub-divisional hospital on January 31. The patient’s family alleged that the baby died due to medical negligence. A written complaint has been lodged at the Mekhliganj police station seeking punishment for the accused doctor.
On the basis of the complaint, the Mekhliganj police recovered the body of the newborn and sent it to Mathabhanga morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, Mekhliganj hospital in-charge Sheikh Abu Moniruddin assured to investigate the matter. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
