Siliguri, 06th August: Allegations of illegal parking fee collection have surfaced from several parts of Siliguri, including Hill Cart Road and Sevoke Road, where some individuals were allegedly caught collecting parking charges despite the expiry of the authorised tender.
According to reports, the tender issued by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation for authorised parking fee collection expired in March this year. However, despite no fresh tender reportedly being awarded, some individuals have allegedly continued collecting parking fees illegally.
On Thursday, a group of local residents along with the previous tender holder allegedly caught the accused persons while they were collecting parking fees.
Locals alleged that money had been collected from vehicle owners for a long time without issuing any parking slips.
They have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and strict legal action against those found responsible.
