Tension grips Siliguri over BJP’s protest against Karunamayi’s incident, many detained

Siliguri, 21st October: The BJP held a protest in Siliguri against the unethical removal of the TET-qualified candidates’ movement in Karunamayi. An atmosphere of tension was seen in Siliguri after the protest. Several people were taken into custody by the police. 


As per the report, Siliguri Organizational District Committee of BJP took out a protest rally on Hill Cart Road in Siliguri today. The party workers and supporters protested by blocking the road at Hashmi Chowk. Huge police corps were deployed to the streets to clear the protesters. Eventually an argument broke between the police and the protesters. As the matter escalated, the police detained several BJP supporters and workers to bring the situation under control. Many women supporters have been also detained. 

In this regard, Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh said that the BJP is protesting across the state against Karunamayi’s incident including in Siliguri. He alleged that the police have become slaves of the TMC party.
